Tap water carries dissolved minerals like calcium and magnesium. When it dries, they stay behind as a white spot. Wipe that off and a thin ring is often still stuck to the paint or glass. We call it the calcium halo. Soap and water won't shift it, wash after wash the halos build up, and halos sitting on a ceramic coating stop it beading like it did when it was new. Look at the sun's reflection in a clean window and you'll see them in the glare.
Our Spot Free Rinse tanks use deionising (DI) resin to strip those minerals out, giving you pure, spot free water for a crystal-clear finish. No wiping, drying or polishing needed. Wash. Rinse. Pack up.
Important: this system is designed for the final rinse only, not the full wash. Using it for the entire wash will exhaust the resin significantly faster. All lifespan and capacity figures are based on final-rinse use only.
Here's how to get the most out of it:
- Washing undercover? Use your regular tap water for the main wash, then switch to Spot Free water at the end to rinse the tap water off.
- Washing in full sun? Work one panel at a time. Wash a panel, then rinse it before moving on.
To get even more life out of your resin, use the bypass valve for your main wash and only switch to the DI output for the final rinse. This keeps resin consumption to an absolute minimum.
The tanks are portable, compact, and compatible with a pressure washer, regular hose or water fed pole. You can rinse in full midday sun and still get zero mineral deposits.
Choosing the right size. Most people use up to 30 litres per car rinse. The right tank size for you depends on three things: how often you wash, your local water quality (TDS), and the tank size you choose.
Every tank includes a TDS meter so you always know where your resin is at. When purified water starts reading above roughly 10 ppm, or you notice very light spotting, it's time for a resin replacement. All tanks arrive pre-filled with HFR (High Flow Resin), ready to use straight out of the box.

Isn't water just water?
Why would anyone filter the water they wash their car with? Fair question. Tap water looks clean, but it carries dissolved minerals, and they stay behind when the water dries.

Pure water leaves nothing behind, so no new halos form.
It won't remove halos that are already there. That's a job for a detailer and a polish.

Which size, and how long will it last?

Bigger tank, cheaper rinse.
Water uses up the top layer of resin first. That used layer is about the same depth in every tank. In a small tank it's a big share of the resin. In a big tank it's a thin slice off the top, so more of what you paid for gets used before you see spots.
Rinse cost is the resin replacement price divided by the top of each rinse range, at 100 ppm and 30 litres a rinse.
Hard water means fewer rinses per resin set
These counts are for 100 ppm tap water, final rinse only, 30 litres a rinse. The more minerals in your water, the fewer rinses you get. A Lite that does 97 rinses at 100 ppm does about 48 at 200 ppm, and so on. Hard water is also where a pure rinse makes the biggest difference. Three things decide how long the resin lasts
- Your tap water. Harder water leaves worse spots, which is exactly why a pure final rinse makes the biggest difference there. It also uses the resin faster, so going a size up makes sense in hard water areas.
- What you wash. A 4WD, ute or caravan takes roughly twice the water of a small car.
- How you use it. Tap water for the wash, purified water for the final rinse only. The bypass head fitted to every tank does exactly that, and used that way the resin goes around four times further than running the whole wash through the tank.

How long will it last?

WA water is harder than most of the country, which is exactly why a pure final rinse makes such a difference there. Harder water also works the resin harder, so you'll get fewer rinses than the 100 ppm figures on this page. A few ways to make it go further:
- Wash and rinse with tap water, then use the tank for the final rinse only
- Keep the flow gentle on the last pass
- Go up a size. The Pro costs less per rinse than the Lite and needs fewer resin replacements

It comes down to your tap water, how much water your final rinse uses, and the tank size.
Put your postcode into the calculator on this page for your own estimate. Hard water uses the resin faster, so if your tap reads 400 ppm or more, expect a lot fewer rinses than the 100 ppm figures.
Every tank comes with a TDS meter, so you never have to guess: 0 ppm means the resin is doing its job, and above 10 ppm it's time for a resin replacement.
For the longest resin life, wash with tap water as normal and use the tank for the final rinse only, straight after washing and before the soapy water has a chance to dry.
You'll see flow rates quoted on some DI tanks, but on its own the number doesn't tell you much. How well the tank keeps up, and how long the resin lasts doing it, depends on the size of the tank, the water going in, and how long that water spends in contact with the resin.
The slower water moves through the resin, the further each fill goes. That's why a tank running a water fed pole for windows and solar panels goes much further than the same tank on full tap flow over a car. Both work. Push water through faster and you'll be replacing resin sooner.
With a pressure washer, we recommend one under 10 L/min. The tanks will run bigger units, the resin just won't last as long. If you run high flow every wash, a bigger tank gives the water more contact time, so the Pro or Commercial is the better fit.
To show you the scale, ion exchange resin ranges from cheap generic grades right through to ultra-high-purity resin used in semiconductor and nuclear water systems.
Most other systems send you the individual parts and you need to assemble and fill the tank yourself. Our systems come fully assembled, you are not part of the assembly line.
All other resins we tested were the cheap generic type. They worked for the first few washes, and they exhausted very quickly and cannot keep up with the flow required for car washing. We don't sell the cheap, generic cleaning resin. We build high quality products designed to perform in the real world, not gimmicks.
