Spot free car wash system for cars, caravans and boats
How a spot free car rinse at home works
You wash the car the same way you always have, with your usual soap and tap water. The difference is the last rinse. Tap water is normal water, but it was never meant to be the last thing on your paint, because the minerals in it stay behind as spots when it dries. A Spot Free Rinse tank takes those minerals out with HFR (High Flow Resin). Rinse with that pure water and there's nothing left to dry onto the paint or glass, so you can skip the towel.
The tank connects to your garden hose and runs on mains pressure, with no power or pump. Wash with tap water through the bypass, switch it over to pure water for the final rinse, and let it dry. Wash. Rinse. Pack up.
A spot free car wash at home, even in the sun
Full sun is where tap water spots show up fastest. With pure water on the final rinse you can work one panel at a time: wash it, rinse it, move on. Just rinse the soap off before it has a chance to dry on the surface.
Caravans and motorhomes
A caravan or motorhome is a lot of panel and glass to dry by hand, and the high sides are the hardest part to reach with a towel. Rinse with pure water and it dries without spots. The telescopic car wash mop handles the wash on the high parts, and the tank goes wherever you have a tap and a hose. If you rinse a big van often, the Pro 15L holds more resin and goes further between replacements.
Boats
After a day on the water, wash the boat as normal to get the salt and grime off, then give it a final rinse with pure water. Paint, glass, chrome, stainless and aluminium dry without the mineral spots tap water leaves. The Lite weighs about 12kg filled with water, so it's easy to move around. See the boat wash system range for more.
4WDs and motorbikes
A 4WD is a lot of vehicle to dry, and a motorbike has an engine, chrome and gaps a towel won't get into. Pure water rinses those spots clean and dries without marks. The synthetic wool wheel brush takes care of wheels, barrels and engine bays during the wash.
What comes in the box
Every tank includes the bypass head fitted, a TDS meter and a 2m connector hose, and the Lite and Pro ship free Australia-wide. The Lite 10L is $499, the Pro 15L is $699 and the Commercial 25L is $999 (special order, contact us to order). You supply your own garden hose from the tap to the tank. When the meter reading starts to climb, a resin replacement kit gets it back to pure water, and the calculator on the tank page shows how many litres to expect for your postcode.
Common questions
Can I get a spot free car rinse at home without drying?
Yes, that's exactly what it's for. Wash the car as normal with tap water, then do the final rinse with pure water from the tank and let it dry on its own. Pure water has no minerals in it, so there's nothing left behind to form spots. You skip the towel, which also means less rubbing on the paint and glass.
Do I still need car wash soap with a spot free rinse?
Yes. Wash the way you normally would, with your usual car wash soap and tap water. The tank replaces your normal tap water rinse at the end. It isn't a cleaner itself. Its job is to make sure the last water on the car has nothing in it to dry into spots.
Can I use a spot free rinse tank on a caravan or motorhome?
Yes. Wash the van as normal, then rinse it with pure water and let it dry. That saves drying a lot of panel and glass by hand, including the high sides. The tank runs off a garden hose at mains pressure, with no power needed. A telescopic wash mop helps with the high parts, and the Pro 15L goes further between resin replacements if you rinse a large van often.
Can I use a spot free rinse tank on a boat?
Yes. Wash the salt and grime off as normal, then give the boat a final rinse with pure water. Paint, glass, chrome, stainless and aluminium dry without mineral spots. All you need is a tap and a garden hose, since the tank runs on mains pressure with no pump. The boat wash system page has more on setting it up.
Can I rinse my car in the sun with pure water?
Yes. Sun is where tap water spots are worst, because the water dries so fast. With a pure water final rinse there's nothing in the water to leave behind, so it can dry in the sun without spotting. Work one panel at a time, washing then rinsing each, and make sure the soapy water is rinsed off before it dries.
Will a spot free rinse remove water spots already on my car?
No. It stops new ones forming, but it won't remove marks that are already there. Wipe a dried water spot away and a ring is left behind. We call it the calcium halo. The white spot comes off. The halo doesn't. Removing halos already on the paint or glass needs a detailer and a polish. After that, a pure water final rinse stops new ones forming.
Is deionised water safe on car paint?
Yes. Pure water is simply water with the minerals taken out, so it's safe on paint and clear coat, glass and mirrors, chrome, stainless, aluminium, plastic trims and lights. Because you're not towel drying afterwards, there's also less contact with the paint, which reduces the chance of scratches and swirl marks.
Can I use a spot free rinse on a motorbike?
Yes. Motorbikes are one of the hardest things to dry properly, with the engine, chrome and small gaps a towel can't reach. Wash as normal, rinse with pure water and let it dry. The synthetic wool wheel brush is handy for wheels and around the engine during the wash.
