A cleaner, simpler way to switch between filter and bypass on your Spot Free Rinse tank.
The Tank Head With Bypass replaces your existing Spot Free Rinse tank head and makes it easier to switch between normal water flow and filtered water, without needing a separate external bypass setup. (Please note: This tank head may not be compatible with other systems, system specifications can vary. you're welcome to contact us to make sure)
It includes the bypass head, heavy-duty handle, 2 x male connectors, and bottom basket, so you can directly replace your existing tank head.
Every new Spot Free Rinse tank now ships with this head fitted. This listing is a spare, or an upgrade for older tanks that came with the filter only head.
How it works
Filter mode
Water flows through the resin for spot-free rinsing.
Bypass mode
Water skips the resin so you can save DI water for when you actually need it.
This makes it ideal for running normal water through most of the wash, then switching to filtered water for the final rinse.

Important note on lever positions
This tank head is based on a head originally designed for water softener systems, which is why the lever shows 4 functions:
- Filter
- Bypass
- Fast Rinse
- Backwash
On this unit, only Filter and Bypass are active.
The Fast Rinse and Backwash ports have been blocked off, so those functions do not operate and are not required for this application. If you are purchasing for use on a water softener please contact us and we can set it up that way for you.
Some detailers still like this style of head because it is one of the few available options with an integrated bypass. You may also see similar heads on other spot-free systems, and they typically have these extra functions blocked off as well.

0 ppm is when resin is fresh, and output rises as resin is consumed.

Do I need a bypass head if my tank is new?
No. Tanks sold in recent months already come with the bypass head fitted. This head is for owners of older Spot Free Rinse tanks that came with a filter only head and want to switch between tap water and pure water without a separate external bypass.
Will the bypass head fit my tank?
It's a direct replacement for the existing head on a Spot Free Rinse tank. It may not suit other systems, because tank specifications vary. If you're not sure, contact us before ordering and we'll check it for you.
What's included with the Tank Head With Bypass?
You get the tank head with bypass function, a heavy duty handle, 2 male connectors and a bottom basket. That's everything you need to take your old head off and fit this one directly in its place.
Why does the lever have four positions?
The head is based on a design originally made for water softener systems, so the lever shows filter, bypass, fast rinse and backwash. Only filter and bypass are active. The fast rinse and backwash ports are blocked off because they aren't needed for rinsing. If you want one set up for a water softener, contact us.
How does a bypass make the resin last longer?
In filter mode, water runs through the resin for a spot free rinse. In bypass mode it skips the resin. Wash with tap water on bypass, then switch to filter for the final rinse. The resin only works when it counts, so you get more litres of pure water from each set.
Can I flush old resin out through the bypass head?
No. Pushing spent resin through a bypass head can damage it. That's why our resin replacement full kit includes its own black extraction head, which is filter only with a rubber seal and no mesh. Use that for the flush, then put your bypass head back on for rinsing.
